The fire started in Stratford around 6:15 p.m., Monday, April 17 at the. Stratford Guns & Ammo at 760 Honeyspot Road.
Stratford Fire Marshal Robert Daniel said the three-alarm fire started in the shooting range area and employees attempted to put it out before calling 911 and evacuating the store and area.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy fire showing the roof on the northwest side of the structure, Daniel said.
Some 22 firefighters started an aggressive fire attack and rooftop ventilation. Command issued a second and third alarm for additional resources.
The fire was under control at about 45 minutes and there were no injured reported, he added.
"The structure suffered substantial fire and water damage," Daniel said.
The origin and cause of this fire are under investigation by the Stratford Fire Marshal’s Office.
